Terms of Service
Last updated 24 August 2026 · applies to jamhub.co.uk
Only upload music that is your own original work (or something you hold all the rights to publish here under the jam's licence). Everything you publish joins a jam under that jam's licence, so other members can build on it — that's the point of the place. Takes are permanent and credit stays with your handle; we only remove things for legal or moderation reasons. If you upload something that isn't yours we'll remove it and may remove you. Be sound.
1.What JamHub is, and agreeing to these terms
JamHub ("the service") is a collaborative music platform: a jam holds a tree of takes, each take adds a recording ("stem") on top of the ones before it, and anyone the jam is open to can listen, download the stems, and add their own layer. By creating an account or publishing anything, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
2.Accounts
You need an account with a permanent public handle to publish. You must be at least 13 to have an account, and old enough to grant the licences in section 4 yourself — if you're under 18, make sure whoever's responsible for you is fine with this. New accounts can browse and listen but must be approved by the JamHub team before publishing anything. You are responsible for what happens under your account. We may refuse, suspend, or revoke publishing access, or close an account entirely, at our discretion — for example for uploading work that isn't yours. Suspension stops you publishing; it does not erase what you already published, because other people's takes may already be built on it (see section 6).
3.Your uploads: ownership and originality
This is the heart of these terms. For every file you upload or record on JamHub, you promise that:
- it is your own original work, or you hold all rights needed to publish it here under the jam's licence;
- it contains no third-party recordings, samples, loops, or compositions you don't have rights to — including uncleared sample-pack content whose licence doesn't permit redistribution as stems;
- it doesn't imitate a real person's voice or performance to deceive; and
- nobody else's rights (copyright, performers' rights, or otherwise) are infringed by it.
Every upload records an attestation — who claimed the rights, when, and from what IP address (see section 8). You keep ownership of your work; uploading transfers nothing to us beyond the licences below. If someone brings a claim against us because a file you uploaded broke these promises, that claim is your responsibility — including reasonable costs we incur dealing with it.
4.The licences you grant
Publishing a take grants two licences:
- To us: a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, transcode, stream, and distribute your stems as needed to run the service (including letting members download them, which is how contributing works).
- To other members: the jam's licence — chosen by the jam's creator and frozen when its first take lands: CC-BY 4.0, CC-BY-SA 4.0, CC-BY-NC 4.0, or JamHub Collab. JamHub Collab means: collaborate freely on JamHub with attribution; non-commercial sharing off-platform is allowed with attribution; any commercial use requires the written consent of every contributor whose work is in the take being used. Every take in a jam inherits its jam's licence. Check the badge before you contribute; publishing into a jam means accepting its licence for your layer.
In private jams, the jam's licence applies between its members for collaborating inside the jam; the licence's wider terms take effect if and when the jam is made public.
These licences are irrevocable for published takes — other people's work is built on top of yours, and pulling the licence out from under them would break theirs. Attribution is permanent: your handle stays on your stems.
5.Acceptable use
Don't upload unlawful content. Don't impersonate others. Don't share or republish stems from private jams outside them. Don't scrape or bulk-download the service. Don't abuse the hearts, approval, or upload systems. We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules.
One honest note on private jams: pages and stem listings are hidden from non-members, but the audio files themselves live at unguessable addresses rather than behind per-request authentication. Treat genuinely sensitive material accordingly.
6.Permanence, deletion, and removal
Takes are immutable by design — like commit history, the record of who added what, when, is permanent. What you can and can't undo:
- A jam's owner can delete the whole jam only while every take in it is their own; once others contribute, their work can no longer be deleted by the jam's owner — only we can remove it, for moderation or legal reasons.
- Audio that must come down (infringement, legal reasons) is removed from storage; the platform is built so that, wherever the tree allows, its structure, credits, and other members' layers stay intact.
- To remove your own published audio or close your account, contact us (section 9) — we'll do what the collaborative structure allows. Closing your account never revokes the licences on takes you already published, and your handle stays on your stems — other people's work is built on them.
7.Infringement claims
If you believe something on JamHub infringes your rights, contact us (section 9) with the jam link, the take in question, what you own, and how we can reach you. We review claims promptly, remove infringing material, and suspend repeat infringers.
8.Your data
To run the service we store: your account email and handle; the takes, jams, hearts, and memberships you create; and an attestation for every upload — your account, a timestamp, and the IP address it came from — kept for as long as the take exists, because proving who claimed the rights to what is the point of it. We use this data to run JamHub, and we don't sell it. Hosting and authentication are provided by our infrastructure providers (currently Supabase and Vercel), who process it on our behalf. To ask what we hold about you, or to request deletion of what the collaborative structure allows, contact us (section 9).
9.Contact
Rights issues, data requests, account requests, questions — use the contact form at jamhub.co.uk/feedback. Leave an email and it reaches us directly; we reply from there. No account needed.
10.The service itself
JamHub is provided as-is, without warranties. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service; nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Keep your own copies of your work — the service is a place to collaborate, not your only backup.
11.Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be flagged on the site, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept them. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes belong to its courts.
Questions about how collaboration works in practice? The how to JamHub page covers the flow, and every jam shows its licence badge in its header.
